There are a number of whole-life "Guaranteed Over 50 Plans" offered by insurance companies which will pay out guaranteed tax-free lump sums on death. Acceptance into such plans is guaranteed without any medical evidence. Typically a male aged 60 starting a plan and paying £10 per month would receive a payout on death of some £2000 + while a female would receive some £2500 +. Rates vary between life companies so shopping around is advised.
