LifeHolder Information Packs are available free of charge from participating solicitors. The LifeHolder concept includes some products and services which are provided by solicitors and which are charged at agreed fees.
These services include making a Will, drawing up an Enduring (or Lasting) Power of Attorney, a Living Will and certain other services and advice which may incur a charge.
All participating solicitors will quote you in advance, and without obligation, for all or any of these services. They are not obliged to fix their fees as a result of being members of LifeHolder and offer fully competitive market rates.
Just contact any solicitor listed in the "Next Steps" (What do I do next?) page of this website. You can search by postcode to find one located near you.
All solicitors will provide Information Packs without charge or obligation but many may suggest it best if you make a mutually convenient appointment to meet so they can explain the issues in person.
Further information is contained in the LifeHolder Information Packs or from the information sources on the Useful Links page.
For detailed information on how the LifeHolder concept can assist you, you need to discuss your own personal circumstances. Contact a solicitor from those listed in "Next Steps".
It is up to individual solicitors what they charge for drawing up a Will, or indeed for providing any of the other LifeHolder services.
For all lawyers, the cost will vary according to the complexity of your circumstances and what your requirements are. All participating solicitors will give you an estimate of their charges, and if the requirements are fairly straightforward, may quote you a fixed price.
Legislation introducing Lasting Powers of Attorney and replacing the old Enduring Powers of Attorney was introduced in October 2007.
There are two types of LPA - one dealing with Property & Financial affairs and the other dealing with matters of Personal Welfare. Both are legal documents enabling an individual to appoint an attorney (or attorneys) to deal with their affairs in the event they become incapacitated.
Although it is no longer possible to draw up an Enduring Power of Attorney any which were set up before 1 October 2007 will remain legal and valid.
No, none whatsoever. The solicitor may suggest a private meeting so he or she is better able to relate the LifeHolder concept to your own circumstances but, any such meeting will be without cost or obligation on your part.
LifeHolder brings together all the issues which are of concern, to those in middle or old age, with regard to death or incapacity and all the issues which surround these phenomena.
All solicitors who participate in the LifeHolder programme will advise you to consider the issues as a whole - not just, for example, to make a Will and not also consider the possibility of later incapacity or paying or planning for your funeral.
LifeHolder provides the means whereby all the aspects of death and incapacity can be conveniently considered and planned together.
All solicitors who participate in the LifeHolder programme specialise in advising on issues concerned with tax and financial planning and protecting personal assets.
All have agreed to give free, no obligation, first interviews with prospective clients for LifeHolder products and services and to supply clients with LifeHolder Information Packs.
New solicitors are joining the LifeHolder organisation all the time. If you did not find one near you when you looked at the database in "Next Steps" the chances are that there will be soon.
In the meantime, if you would like a LifeHolder Information Pack please us.
